Jan 12, 2009 Tri-City Housing Market Update
North Caroling-based Local Market Monitor listed the Kennewick-Pasco-Richland housing market fourth on its list of 10 smaller communities across the nation that have better housing market prospects than other similar-sized communities. This report considers same communities with fewer that 600,000 residents.
Carolyn Beggs, chief operating officer of Local Market Monitor, said Tri-City home prices peaked in the second quarter of 2009 and declined 1 percent in the latter half of the ray. But she expects home prices to stay the same or increase marginally in 2010,
The area’s good job growth and low unemployment rate makes it a desirable housing market, Beggs said.
A record 3,122 homes were sold in the Tri-Cities in 2009. The majority of sales involved homes costing $300,000 or less.
